Science Translational Medicine Web Submissions

Welcome to the Science Translational Medicine
Manuscript Submission Site
The following screens will guide you through the electronic submission process for submitting a new manuscript to Science Translational Medicine. (To edit an active but incomplete submission, please return to the main page and click on the link for authors returning to work on a submission). We strongly recommend that you read our Information for Contributors and Directions for Electronic Submission before submitting your paper. During the submission process you will be asked to provide or transmit the following:
  • Names and addresses, including email addresses, of all authors
  • A text version of the title and abstract (you can paste this in from your manuscript file)
  • A text version of the cover letter. This should include a statement of the main point of your paper and its relation to prior work, a summary of the significance of the paper for translational medicine, a list of any colleagues who have read the article, and future contact information of the corresponding author (if different from the manuscript affiliation). Paste this in as text. Do not upload a cover letter file.
    • File(s) containing the manuscript and figures. All text, references, captions, and tables must be in one file only; we prefer that figures and Supplementary Material also be included in this file but you may also upload them as separate files, one for each complete figure.
    • Files must be in one of the following formats [and each must end in one of the following file extensions (e.g., smithtext.ps or smithfig1.eps)]:
      • pdf (portable document format)
      • ps (postscript)
      • eps (encapsulated postscript)
      • prn (print file to a postscript printer)
      • doc (Microsoft Word version 6 up to 2004 only. We cannot accept .docx files created in Word 2007)
      • wpd (WordPerfect) please save as version 6 or later
    • Files in formats other than those listed or that do not end with the appropriate file extension will not be accepted. All files together should not exceed 7 MB in size.
  • If your article has supplementary materials that do not fit the listed file types (audio or video files, for example), contact the Science Translational Medicine Editorial office at scitranslmededitors@aaas.org. Please include your Web Submission ID, name and manuscript title as reference.
